A fresh start
I want to set the tone for this series. Because a relationship series can be discouraging. All of the shoulda, coulda, wouldas come to mind. Especially if you’ve been working on your relationship for awhile. But I want you to remember that we serve a God whose mercies begin afresh each morning.
Did you know there is a spirit of heaviness? The way to overcome that heaviness is with the “garment” of praise. This “garment” is what allows you to change your emotional state. In fact, when you choose joy in your relationships–when you choose to praise God even when your spouse/significant other is being a pain–it does three things:
- Praise takes the focus of ourselves and puts the focus back on God.
- Praise highlights the eternal.
- Praise helps us to be outward, not inward.
Listen to the message audio to learn seven practical Bible words to help you put on praise so you can find some Joy!
…through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; 9 known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.2 Corinthians 6:8-10
To give them the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.Isaiah 61:3 NKJV
