A fresh start
I want to set the tone for this series. Because a relationship series can be discouraging. All of the shoulda, coulda, wouldas come to mind. Especially if you’ve been working on your relationship for awhile. But I want you to remember that we serve a God whose mercies begin afresh each morning.
When it comes to relationships, often single people are looking for “the One,” someone to complete them. But let me give it to you straight: No person can complete you.
Even if you marry a person that you think is worth idolizing, even if you marry the most amazing person in the whole entire world, that person will never complete you.
Anything you idolize (other than God) you will eventually demonize. Because they will let you down. They’ll fail you. The only one worthy–the only one who can complete you–is Jesus.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.Matthew 6:33 NLT
The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words. 20 I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. 21 Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: 22 The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. 23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.Lamentations 3:19-23 NLT
