That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. 9 Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, 10 but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.Luke 2:8-12 NLT
There was good reason for the shepherds in Luke 2 to be terrified. Heaven had been silent for 400 years. There hadn’t been a miracle in almost 500 years They were an oppressed people. If anybody needed joy.these people needed some joy.
I believe we are much like them. People are angry; the news is negative. If you let it, everything that’s going on the in the world today can steal your joy. In fact, if you don’t feel like you have any strength, it could be because you don’t have any joy.
…for the joy of the Lord is your strength!Nehemiah 8:10 NLT
