What We Believe

What We Believe

God- The Creator

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and are one God.

  • Psalm 90:2
  • Matthew 28:19
  • 1 Peter 1:2
  • 2 Corinthians 13:14

God- The Father

God is great: He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, holy. It is in Him that we live, move and exist. God is good: He is our Father. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises.

  • Malachi 3:6
  • John 3:16; 4:24; 5:26; 14:1;
  • Acts 17:28
  • Romans 3:3-4

Jesus Christ- The Son

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is coequal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again someday to earth to reign as King.

The Holy Spirit- God with us

The Holy Spirit is coequal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer spiritual gifts when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His control daily.

Baptism/infilling of the Holy Spirit is an additional experience given at Pentecost, this ongoing baptism (or infilling) is the promise of the Father, sent by Jesus after His ascension, to empower believers to supernaturally and boldly communicate the gospel throughout the whole earth. With this infilling, the believer has the potential of experiencing various manifestations such as scripturally based prophetic experiences, unknown tongues, and other visible outward signs according to the scriptures.

  • Acts 1:8, 2:4-6, 7:18, 8:15-16,18, 19:46, 19:2,6

  • Galatians 5:25
  • 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16
  • Ephesians 1:13, 5:18

The Bible- God wrote the Book

The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs about living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without error.

  • 2 Timothy 3:16, 1:13
  • 2 Peter 1:20-21
  • Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6
  • Proverbs 30:5

Human Beings- God’s image on earth

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. Sin separates us from God and causes many problems in our life.

  • Genesis 1:27
  • Psalm 8:3-6
  • Isaiah 53:6
  • Romans 3:23
  • Isaiah 59:1-2

Salvation- The Gift

Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into her life by faith.

  • Romans 6:23
  • Ephesians 2:8-9
  • John 14:6, 1:2
  • Titus 3:5
  • Galatians 3:26
  • Romans 5:1, 10:9-10

Eternity- Forever and Ever

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.

  • John 3:16, 14:17
  • Romans 6:23, 8:17-18
  • Revelation 20:15
  • 1 Corinthians 2:7-9

Baptism- The big Splash

Baptism is symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Once we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, baptism is a way for us to publicly declare our new life in Christ. It is also a step of obedience based on God’s commands and allows us to follow the example of Jesus, who submitted himself to baptism to “fulfill all righteousness.”

  • Matthew 3:16-17 , 28:18-20
  • Acts 2:41 , 8:12

In addition to our beliefs
We will keep the attitude of love toward others and accept those whose faith is weak without being judgemental.

“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”

  2. 1 Corinthians 13:2
